CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

SFVA offers a complete pre-school program for children ages 2-5. The Child Development Center (CDC) is fully licensed by the State of California as a Child Care Center. It is open year round, Monday-Thursday 7:00 am-5:30 pm, and Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Serving as a separate facility within the SFVA Elementary School building, in addition to providing an enriched learning program for your child, the CDC also offers an academic environment in a school setting.  The low student-teacher ratios (app. 1 to 8 on average)  ensure that close attention is given to each child.

Curriculum

The students have daily activities that provide the important educational building blocks for your child’s future, including Bible classes. Our program stimulates and develops effective learning and problem-solving skills, values, and attitudes in a reassuring environment that boosts self-esteem. The Preschool participates at a church service once or twice a year.

Field Trips

Field trips are planned for the children to various places during the school year. Parents are notified in advance of the date, destination, and cost of the trip. Parents are requested to fill out and sign a permission slip for every outing. This is required by State Licensing. No child may accompany the group without a signed permission slip.

History

The SFVA Preschool was founded in 1996 and is a State Licensed, non-profit school.

Philosophy

We believe that higher teacher to child ratios provide for better education by allowing inpidual attention to each child. Class size and supervision comply with all state requirements. As a church-based Christian school, the Preschool focuses on physical, emotional, and spiritual development.

The SFVA Preschool upholds the moral and ethical principals of Scripture, including belief in the 10 Commandments, and in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our ministry has its roots in this mission of service to our students and their families.
