Shelly Morris

Elementary Vice-Principal, 3rd and 4th Grade Teacher

It is so hard to condense my full life into a few sentences, but here goes. I was born in Barbados and I emigrated to the US back in 1997. I love to travel and teach, so I combine them and have seen the world while doing what I love. This is my 26th year teaching overall. 19 years have been with the SDA school system, 13 here in Southern California, 3 in Florida, 2 in Arizona, and 1 in Guam. I have been teaching here at SFVA since 2015 and I love it. I pray this is my last move because, I hope to retire from this school as I have found a family here.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

I have both my SDA Teaching Credential and the California Multiple Subject Teacher Credential. My teaching experience has been in SDA schools mostly, but I have also taught in public and other Christian/Non-denominational schools. Sean Porras, alumnus of SFVA (class of 1991), and I have been married for 21 years. We have an energetic and imaginative 9 year old boy, Henry, that we are very proud of! Reading, crocheting, card-making, and crafting are some of my hobbies that I do in my spare time. Most of all I love spending time with my family traveling, hiking, biking, and exploring other adventures!

Lois Dewitt

5th and 6th Grade Teacher

This will be my 24th year in the field of education. I received my BA in Elementary Education from the University of Guam and have since taught multiple grade levels. I have spent 15 years as a public-school teacher and 9 years as an SDA teacher. In addition to teaching, I had the honor of serving as a teaching-principal for 4 years, prior to joining the SFVA family. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband, Will, who is a teacher; three wonderful kids, Emily (teacher), Abigail (freshman in college), and James (sophomore in high school). We love to travel! Two years ago, we took a road trip across US, visited 33 different states. To keep busy, I love to do puzzles and play sports.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. (Pro.16:3)
